The incident took place in Sullivan County on Friday, Dec. 16, in South Fallsburg.
According to Undersheriff Eric Chaboty, of the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a person who had been stabbed and sought treatment at an urgent care facility in Monticello.
Once at the clinic, the man, who had been stabbed in the abdomen, was rushed by ambulance to Garnet Hospital in Harris, Chaboty said.
The victim was then transported to Garnet Orange Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery. He is currently listed in stable condition, Chaboty added.
Chaboty said deputies determined the attack had occurred at a residence on Route 42 in South Fallsburg and that the assailant was the victim’s grandson.
A bulletin was put out for Supreme Faison, age 24, of Fallsburg. At about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17, deputies spotted him at an apartment complex on Laurel Avenue in South Fallsburg, Chaboty said.
A sheriff’s patrol responded to the scene and took the Faison into custody without incident, police said.
Faison has been charged with:
- Assault
- Criminal possession of a weapon
- Menacing.
He was committed to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
Faison is due back in court on Wednesday, Dec. 21.
Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff said the investigation is continuing and that additional charges may be possible.
